What are the different types of volunteer opportunities?

Read the differences between classroom, committee or program, and event-specific volunteers.

We can’t do what we do without the support of our amazing parents who generously donate their time to help make our endeavors a success. We have a variety of volunteering (remote/online and on-site) opportunities throughout the year.

Event-specific Volunteers

WHAT IT IS:

There will be always be a need for event-specific volunteers, such as, PTO family nights (i.e., Spring Jamboree, Family Game Night, etc.) and/or other WGA campus events (i.e., school performances, holiday events, etc.).

WHERE TO SIGN-UP:

The big PTO events are often announced in advance on our website. Other WGA campus events (where PTO may have a supporting role), volunteer requests may come at the last minute.

We post all opportunities (as soon as we know about it) on the volunteer page and promote it via our social channels.

Committee or Program-Level Volunteers

WHAT IT IS:

PTO has different committee chairs who organize and support our various events and initiatives (i.e., Hospitality Committee, Check-a-Thon Committee, or Art Masterpiece program). Committee or program-level help isn't just day-of or event volunteer. These often include a small group of volunteers under the direction of the chair. They help brainstorm ideas, implement processes, and organize volunteers to help execute their programs.

WHERE TO SIGN-UP:

Fill out this volunteer interest form or reach out the the specific committee chairs or program coordinators.

Classroom/Specials Volunteers

WHAT IT IS:

These opportunities may often fall outside of the PTO (i.e., class party, making costumes for the play, etc.). They are typically at the teacher/staff's discretion and sometimes coordinated via a Room Parent.

WHERE TO SIGN-UP:

Requests are generally sent through the Bloomz classroom messaging app or via email (from a teacher, staff, or Room Parent).

If your classroom does not have a Room Parent (or you don’t know who your Room Parent is), let us know and our Volunteer Coordinator can reach out to you.
