Fall break begins when that 3:15pm bell rings on Friday (9/29)! Here are a few ways to stay connected during the 2-week hiatus from regular school routines.
REMINDER: There will be NO SCHOOL from Monday, October 2 through Monday, October 16. Regular school resumes on Tuesday, October 17.
We know families have a variety of plans during the fall break. However, if you're looking for ways to stay connected to the larger WGA community, here are some options:
Volunteer to help with campus projects.
The break is often a chance for staff to work on bigger campus projects - from painting the Tech Hub to preparing the school garden. Click to read more about the volunteer projects on campus during the 2nd week of fall break or go to wgapto.org/volunteer to sign up.
Work on the Check-a-thon "community builds" or "family builds".
Families sometimes use fall break to make progress on the decorative projects for Check-a-thon (CAT). Some work on their own family builds. Others collaborate with various community teams to work on larger, thematic builds. Go to wgapto.org/cat to volunteer on the community builds or contact the CAT Co-Chairs at wga.pto.checkathon@gmail.com directly - they'll know how to help you jump right in!
Schedule playdates with other WGA families.
It's not uncommon for our kids to want to hangout with their classmates and friends over break. But what if you are a new WGA family and don't know many parents (nor have any of their contact information)?
ParentSquare allows parents to reach out to other parents through private, direct messaging. Similar to Facebook or Instagram, you can direct message or DM a parent without exposing any personal contact information.
Log into ParentSquare
Click on 'Messages' on the main navigation
Select "+" (mobile) or "New Message" on web to launch a new message
Type the name of the recipient (search by parent, staff, student name)
Write your message
Press Send
Whatever you decide to do over break, we hope your family has an enjoyable time making memories and having fun!
