Our fall Scholastic book fair was a success thanks to our WGA families and our avid student readers!
Each school year, WGA PTO works with the staff at the school to bring our students 2 book fairs: in the fall (during parent-teacher conferences) and in the spring (during STArt Fair).
Your support strengthens our WGA Library!
Our first fall book fair surpassed our expectations by bringing in $15K in sales! WGA will receive 50% of the proceeds, which goes directly to support the WGA library.
With this year’s funds Mrs. Machado, WGA's Media Assistant, plans to add to the library's wishlist, which includes picture books, early chapter books series, new fiction chapter book series, and non-fiction titles, too.
"I also plan to complete existing books series and add new titles to the school's collection based on student input," says Machado. "There will be something for everyone!"
Parents can always view new purchases from Mrs. Machado's Recently Purchased Book Collection (link at the bottom of the Media Center page of the WGA official website).
Your eWallet funds are still available for online purchases!
If you have any unused $$$ funds in your child's eWallet account, you can still purchase books through WGA's Online Book fair which extends through Thursday, August 31 -- 25% of all online sales will support the library.
Parents should've received an email from Scholastic reminding them about the online fair with an update of the remaining balance in their eWallet account.
Here are the steps on purchasing online via Scholastic WGA Online Book fair:
Go to our dedicated Scholastic WGA Online Book fair page. You can also go to Scholastic's Book fair page and search for "Weinberg Gifted Academy" by clicking on "Find a Fair" from the top right menu.
Log in with your account information. Use the same account that you set up for eWallet.
Click on Account > My eWallet. You can check your eWallet funds.
Shop for books! Purchases will be shipped directly to your home address.
Your eWallet funds never expire. You can use them anytime throughout the year (however, proceeds only go to WGA through 8/31/2023).
If you have any questions, please contact Kay Machado directly through the school.
Your volunteer efforts are humbling.
First, a big "Thank you" to Mr. Gallas for letting us take over his room for the week. Normally, we host the bookfairs in the library, but we 'outgrew' the space this year!
Also, a HUGE shout-out to all the parent volunteers for helping throughout the week. We had over 26 volunteers come before, during, and after the bookfair to help set-up, help our kiddos find books and figure out their tax, and finally tear down the event. Without our volunteers, events like these would not be possible. Thank you for giving our shoppers meaningful and smooth experiences.
We loved watching our students pick and choose different books, giving us great insights into which books are trending and what topics our kiddos are into these days!
