We are halfway through Check-a-thon. Let’s keep the coins a-coming! Thank you to all who have donated. Here’s what these funds will mean to WGA.
Why does Check-a-thon matter?
Out of all the fundraising events throughout the year, Check-a-thon accounts for a significant portion of our budget (~80%). Therefore, we love going above-and-beyond to make this an exceptional event for everyone.
We know your dollars matter. There is no middle-man or vendor to take a percentage from our total funds, so each coin counts. The PTO team works hard to ensure all funds go directly towards benefitting WGA.
FAQ: All funds are allocated according to the PTO 2023-2024 approved budget. Click here to view the budget (members need to log in to view.)
The WGA Wishlist
Before fundraising begins, our PTO team checks-in with Mrs. Nusbaum to put together a ‘wishlist’ for the school. This list usually includes a combination of conceptual ideas or specific items. They range in scale and typically include nice-to-have items that enhance the campus and elevate WGA programs.
This year the ‘wishlist’ includes:
Play Structure and Shade Tents
Engineering and Design Resources
Latest Tech and Coding Tools
Outdoor Learning Spaces
VEX GO Robots
Student Services Den
Library Furniture
In the past, donations from check-a-thon have funded playground shade structures and 3D printers. Also, PTO awards teachers a nice chunk of change to spend however they see fit!

What happens after Check-a-thon?
Once Check-a-thon is over, the wrap assembly, raffle drawings, and reward parties (for top grade and individual earner) commence.
However, the real magic begins after all the Super Mario fanfare is over. The PTO team works together with WGA and Mrs. Nusbaum to prioritize the wishlist, award $$$ to all the teachers, and begin processing any incoming small grant requests for those bigger projects and programs from teachers/staff.
Let's work together to take Mario to the finish line!
