Preparations have started for our annual Check-a-thon fundraiser! Here’s what we know so far about the event and theme!
What is Check-a-thon?
We’re so glad you asked! Check-a-thon is one of our most exciting events of the year!
In short, it’s our big, annual fund drive to collect donations that goes directly to support WGA school programs and initiatives. Most out-of-the-box school fundraising programs keep a significant percentage of the proceeds in exchange for their marketing, services, and/or products. But when it comes to bigger fundraising efforts, this model doesn’t yield a high return for the school.
Check-a-thon encourages direct donations (in the form of checks - hence the name ‘check-a-thon’) where 100% of the funds raised goes directly to WGA. Plus, donations are tax deductible.
When is Check-a-thon?
Check-a-thon starts on Monday, October 23 and goes through Friday, November 3. Follow all the updates on the website at wgapto.org/cat.
What makes this fundraiser unique?
In an effort to generate a boost in donations over a short period of time, our Check-a-thon committee builds momentum through family activities, fun programs, and kid-friendly incentives.
And this year’s theme: Super Mario World “Bowser Take-Down”
While all this effort ultimately supports the school, it’s not just about monies raised. We want this event to be an opportunity to encourage our kids to think about fundraising from a philanthropic and entrepreneurial perspective.
