Spring Book Fair: It's Time to Pounce

The doors to the book fair have opened. Here’s what parents, volunteers, kids, and teachers need to know to have a successful experience!

Whether it’s your first time attending a WGA Book Fair or not, our own PTO Book Fair Committee Chair, Shannon, shares her pro tips on having a successful book fair experience. (Did you know this is her 6th book fair for our school!)

VOLUNTEERS: Be Punctual.

If you are volunteering this week, don't worry—tasks are easy, and there will always be a member of the PTO team to help. But we ask that all volunteers come on time to your shift. It is so crucial in making sure we can assist all students efficiently. You are our true heroes because we certainly couldn’t do it without you!

HELP! We still have some open shifts, click here to sign up if you can spare an hour or two!

PARENTS: Set Expectations.

Consider a discussion with your child about the upcoming book fair. Will they have money to spend? Is there guidance on what should and shouldn’t be purchased? Will you be shopping together at family shop times? A quick chat can save tears at school (especially for those in the younger grades).

FAMILY SHOP TIMES: Our book fair will be open during parent-teacher conferences to give opportunities for families to check out the book fair together.
Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 12:30pm - 3:00pm
Thursday, Feb. 29 from 12:30pm - 6:00pm

TEACHERS/STAFF: Complete a wishlist.

Families often ask what books they can purchase to donate to their kids’ classrooms. Having a wishlist helps guide their goodwill. If you haven’t already, be sure to communicate your classroom shopping day to parents.

KIDS: Ask for Help.

Book fairs are overwhelming. There will be a lot of options available. We have volunteers who can help you find books and add up your purchase totals to make things easier! If we don’t have the book you want, just ask us… we’ll figure out a solution together.

This event means the world to our students, and we certainly couldn’t do it without all the coordination of everyone! Thank you in advance to everyone for your efforts!

See you at the safari!
